University hosts Harvest Dinner Friday

The Bluffton University Nutrition Association (BUNA) will host its annual Harvest Dinner, benefiting the Bluffton Community Assistance Corporation and the Churches United Pantry (CUP) in Lima, from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, in Founders Hall at Bluffton University. The Harvest Dinner will also be the initial sale location for the Bluffton Bread Company.

This year’s dinner will feature locally grown and prepared food including a selection of six soups- potato, corn chowder, chicken noodle, chili, curried butternut squash and beef vegetable soup. There will also be a wide selection of sides and deserts. The meal is made from scratch by Bluffton nutrition and dietetics majors.

“We are so excited to host the 17th annual Harvest Dinner. This is the first year the meal will be served on campus,” said Kayla McSwords ’21, BUNA president. “All donations from this event go to the Bluffton Food Pantry and CUP. Being able to make great food for a great cause is really important to the nutrition and dietetics students at Bluffton. We are so thankful for all of the donations we have received, and we wouldn’t be able to do this without the community’s support.”

Cash and carry sales of Banana Walnut, Pumpkin and Asiago Cheddar breads, at $8 a loaf, will be available while supplies last. Featuring recipes developed by nutrition and dietetics majors, the Bluffton Bread Company is a new experiential learning initiative at Bluffton University. Bluffton Bread Company sales will benefit student learning initiatives.
