Girls' tennis team impressive in win over Kenton

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton girls tennis earned its first win of the season with a 4-1 victory over Kenton Thursday night.

The convincing triumph lifted the Lady Pirate record to 1-2. All four Pirate wins came in straight sets.

Senior Olivia Barnes whipped Katie Sturgeon of Kenton 6-0, 6-0 at second singles. 

Senior Pearl Lewandowski also won handily at third singles over Emma Mulligan by a 6-2, 6-0 count.

Juniors Ellie Nickel and Libby Frazier teamed up to win at first singles 6-4, 6-0.

Freshmen Brooke Camper and Caitlyn Couch also won in straight sets at second doubles 6-0, 6-0.

Senior Julia Smallcombe lost a tough three-setter at first singles to Grace Collins 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. 

Bluffton plays at the Lima City tournament on Collett Street Saturday at 9 a.m. Elida, LCC and Wapakoneta are among the other teams competing.
