12th win in a row for girls' soccer team

BLUFFTON - Allison Diller scored a hat trick to lead the Bluffton girls soccer team to a regular season-ending 5-0 shutout win over visiting Coldwater Thursday night.
With their 12th win in a row, the Lady Pirates improved to 13-2-1. Coldwater fell to .500 at 8-8 with the defeat.
Diller found the back of the net in the third, 10th and 36th minutes of play to give Bluffton a 3-0 halftime lead.
Laykin Garmatter extended the lead to 4-0 two minutes into the second half with a goal. Clara Matthews provided the final margin of victory when she scored in the 69th minute.
Bluffton's Reagan Mittendorf passed out two assists while Jasmine Hastings added one helper.
Bluffton put 15 of its 24 shots on goal.
All three of Coldwater's shots were on goal, and Pirate keeper Julia Mehaffie saved all three.
The Coldwater goalie made 10 saves.
Bluffton was seeded second at the 11-team sectional drawing. The streaking Pirates thus earned a first round bye and will host the Ada/Mansfield Christian winner October 22 in Bluffton.
MC was seeded fourth and will host 10th seed Ada Oct. 20.
Liberty-Benton is the top seed in the sectional, with Ashland Crestview third.
