Mt. Cory Kaleidoscope Farms participating in Operation Evergreen
Kaleidoscope Farms, 14841 County Road 54, Mt. Cory, is a participant in the Operation Evergreen program this year, according to Dave Reese.
Ohio’s Operation Evergreen Program sends around 100 Christmas trees from the state’s Christmas tree growers, complete with handmade ornaments, to U.S. troops stationed overseas for the holidays,” said Reese.
At 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 8, area veterans will select Christmas trees from the farm to cut for the program. Local elementary students, high school students and community groups also visit the farm to present ornaments they have made to the veterans.
Last year there were well over 3,000 ornaments brought to the farm, said Reese.
The trees and ornaments go to the Galehouse Tree Farms where officials inspect the trees before they are shipped to U.S. troops stationed around the world.
Reese said that Operation Evergreen is possible thanks to $10,000 to $15,000 in annual donations to cover the shipping costs of the program.
