Building permits in third quarter 2020 double 2019's figure
Building permits from Jan. 1 to Sept. 30

Village of Bluffton building permits totaled a little over $1.6 million in the third quarter of 2020, according to the village office. That is almost double the $850,000 figure from 2019’s third quarter.
Twenty-seven permits were issued from July 1 through Sept. 30, which included 26 residential permits and one commercial permit, which was an $18,650 demolition of the former Burger King building.
The largest three permits in the third quarter were houses, listed at $352,000, $615,000 and $390,000.
Total Bluffton building permits for the first three quarter of 2020 have reached $3.79 million. Total permits for the first three quarters of 2019 reached $2.3 million.

Building permits are required for the following:
• Construction or structural alternation of any building, including accessory building
• Change in use of an existing building or accessory building to a use of different classification
• Occupancy and use of vacant land
• Change in the use of land to a use of a different classification
• Any change in the use of a non-conforming use
