Here is a listing of Christmas Eve church services made available to the Icon from area congreations.
Bluffton Presbyterian Church
A service is at 7 p.m. and is online only at: facebook.com/blufftonpc/videos. A Facebook login is not required. The service will feature "Where We Belong," a telling of the Christmas story written by Tenna Rhonemus. Several children, youth, and adults will share the message in word and song.
Ebenezer Mennonite Church
Christmas carols, scriptures and a candlelight service takes place at 6 p.m. in the Crossroad Ministry Center and live streamed to the sanctuary.
Emmanuel United Church of Christ
6 p.m. family service
9 p.m. candlelight service
English Lutheran Church
A candlelight drive-in worship service takes place at 7 p.m., in the parking lot of The Centre, 601 N. Main St. The service will be broadcast on FM 101.3 to all the vehicles. The service of lessons and carols concludes with candlelight singing of "Silent Night." Attendees are asked to bring their own battery-run candles. In case of inclement weather, the service will be posted on the church Facebook page.
First Mennonite Church
A 6:30 p.m. service takes place on Zoom https://zoom.us/j/99225890523 or by phone at +1 646 558 8656. Several members of the congregation have roles in the service. It will include singing of several Christmas hymns and a lighting of candles.
First United Methodist
An outdoor mini-service at 7 p.m. takes place. It includes readings from Luke 2 and singing Silent Night, by candlelight, around the outdoor manger on the Jackson Street side of the church. Areas will be marked off for families to be socially distanced from one another. Masks are recommended. We are asking everyone to bring their own candles and lighters.
St. John’s United Church of Christ
An online service is available throughout the day at www.blufftonstjohns.com, Facebook and YouTube. The service opens with carols, readings, lighting of the Advent candles, prayers and communion. The service ends with “Silent Night” at which time all are invited to light a candle wherever they are.
St. Mary's Catholic Church
Christmas eve masses at 4 p.m., 6 p.m., 9 p.m.
Christmas day masses at 10 a.m.
Outside Bluffton
Mt. Cory United Methodist
and Pleasant View UMC
The two congregations will hold a service together:
• 10 a.m. Sunday school video for youth on Mt. Cory UMC Facebook
• 5:30 p.m. Live, in-person caroling outside the Mt. Cory church by candlelight. Masks required, social distancing observed.
• 6:45 p.m. - Virtual service posted to both church Facebook pages and YouTube. Music starts at 6:45 and service starts at 7 p.m.
• 8:30 p.m. - Video presentation of "The Shepherd" posted on the Facebook pages of both churches.
Riley Creek United Methodist
A service, produced in advance, will air at 4 p.m. on the church YouTube channel. It include scripture, a Christmas message, carols and communion.
St. John Mennonite, Pandora
Two services are planned, the first at 6 p.m. and the second at 8 p.m. Both are in-person and streamed live on the church Facebook page. More information at: www.sjm.church
Trinity Lutheran, Jenera
Pre-recorded programs of a children’s Christmas program will be shown online at 7 p.m. The service will be shown on screens in the church at 7 p.m. where the congregation will participate in liturgy and hymns. A Christmas day service is at 9:30 a.m. It will be posted online at 7 p.m. that evening. More information at: http://www.tlcjenera.orgs.
