Tobias Buckell on living in Bluffton - I’m a science fiction writer. I’m usually looking toward what things could be. But this collection of memories and essays ground us in what was, and that is important as well.
A town is not just a place but a community, a tapestry made out of the thread of its shared voices, stories and experiences. Whether rumors of Elvis Presley getting gas, the famous Dillinger bank robbery, or the memories of a certain generation about swimming in the quarry before the community pool came to be.
This second collection of Bluffton’s memories will be reminders of a place that once was for many, and for those who have come to Bluffton in the manner I have (and maybe even some who did grow up here), it’s an introduction to the Bluffton that we never got to know because we hadn’t become a part of its story yet.
Enjoy.
