Beaver volleyball 1-3 at Behrend Invitational
The Bluffton University volleyball team lost a couple of tight matches to Fredonia and John Carroll on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021. The Beavers fell to 3-6 after going 1-3 at the Behrend Invitational.
Freshman Chloei Barnett (Wapakoneta) continued her impressive start to the season with 13 kills and eight digs in Bluffton's five-set loss to Fredonia. Cassidy Posey (Paulding) and Alysha Like (McComb) followed with nine and eight putaways, respectively.
Maddie White (Ashland) dished out 22 assists, picked up six digs and fired a team-high three aces in match one of the day. Senior Brooke Kleman (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) paced the Beaver defense with 23 digs. Kelly Armentrout (Lima/Shawnee), Kaylie Campbell (Camden/Preble Shawnee) and Like were all in on five blocks for the Beavers.
Posey paced the Bluffton offense with 10 kills in match two against John Carroll. Like and White provided support with eight and seven kills. Elle Price (Pocono Pines, PA/Findlay) took over the bulk of the setting duties and handed out 28 assists.
Kleman stuffed the stat sheet with 20 digs, four aces and four kills. Price and White both picked up 15 digs against the Blue Streaks. Posey chipped in with four blocks Saturday afternoon.
The Beavers will be back in the Sommer Center on Wednesday, Sept. 15, when Denison University comes to town. The first serve is slated for 7 p.m.
