University men's golf opens Beaver Fall Classic with a 302

The Bluffton University men's golf team torched the school record (308) with a sparkling 302 on the opening day of the Beaver Fall Classic. Lourdes University sits in first place, just one stroke ahead of the Beavers heading into the final round on Sunday.

All four of Bluffton's scorers shot under 80, led by Spencer Daniels (Ashland) who went one over par at 73 on Saturday. One stroke off Daniels was fellow senior Dominic Castelvetere (Ontario) who followed with a 74. Freshman Hunter Jolliff (Elida) carded a 76 and Nathan Eberle (Grove City) tallied a 79. Junior standout Clay Quellhorst (St. Marys/Memorial) rounded out the "A" team with an 81 on day one.

Leading the "B" team was senior Nick Offenburger (Lexington) who also cracked 80 with a 78. Freshman Brayden Tosi (Springfield/Kenton Ridge) and junior Evan Kujawa (Toledo/Whitmer) both shot 83 for the Beavers.

Bluffton tees it up with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19, looking to move past Lourdes.
