Beaver women cap 2021 with 1-0 soccer shutout
The Bluffton University women's soccer team tied a bow on its 2021 fall campaign with a 1-0 shutout of Manchester University on a cloudy Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021. Bluffton wrapped up its second season of 2021 with a 5-11 mark overall and 2-7 record in Heartland Conference action. Sparty fell to 2-13 and 1-8 in league play.
With soggy field conditions on the menu, all it would take was one miscue to make or break the day. A Manchester handball in the box just 15:18 into the match proved that statement to be spot on as junior Nina McGinn (Marion/Harding) drilled her penalty kick into the upper left corner for the only score on Wednesday!
Bluffton finished with a 15-14 advantage in shots, but Manchester put two more on frame (12-10). The home team was whistled for two more fouls (15-13) and it also forced two more corner kicks (6-4).
McGinn rifled eight shots for the Beavers, including five on frame. Freshman keeper Brielle Collier (Anna) notched her third shutout of the season thanks to a whopping 12 saves.
