Ruth Ann Augustine was a substitute teacher's aide at Cory-Rawson

Ruth Ann Augustine, 81 of Rawson passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Ruth was born on January 1, 1940 in Bluffton to the late Conner and Clara (Burry) Stewart. She married Jerry D. Augustine on October 17, 1958 and he survives along with a daughter, Becky (Larry) Bucher of Mt. Cory, son, Jim (Jennifer) Augustine of Rawson and daughter-in-law, Tammy Augustine of Rawson. 

She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Bradley Bucher, Ashley (Jeff) Scoles, Courtney (Duane) Gerten, Jesse (Sara) Augustine, Megan Augustine, Joshua Augustine, Molly Augustine, Macie Augustine, eight great-grandchildren; Kenedeye, Kinzer, Kadreye, Conner, Anabelle, Maddison, Jacob and Lindlee.  Ruth is also survived by her brother, Rick (Pat) Stewart, sister-in-law, Nancy Kistler and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Augustine, brothers; James, Gary, Michael and Conner Stewart and sisters; Betty Carpenter and Patricia Hilty. 

Ruth was a 1957 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School. Mrs. Augustine was a long-time member of New Hope United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Ruth was a farmer’s wife, she even earned the “Farm Woman of the Year” award from Country Woman Magazine. She was a member of the Rawson Chapter 550 of the Eastern Star for 53 years, serving as secretary for 37 years and was a Past Matron. Ruth was also a substitute teacher’s aide at Cory-Rawson for 15 years. She was also a member of the Town and Country Card Club and volunteered at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Bluffton Campus.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home and for one hour (10:00 – 11:0 0 a.m.) Monday at the church. There will be an Eastern Star Service at 5:00 p.m. Sunday.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 8, 2021 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 209 N. South Main St, Rawson, OH 45881. A family burial will take place at a later date.
