Irene Elizabeth Shaffer worked for Ken Lugibihl Auto and Truck Center
Irene Elizabeth Shaffer, 90, passed away September 3, 2022, at 8:48 p.m.
Irene was born at home on March 23, 1932 in Wapakoneta, to John and Emma (Lindhaus) Kramer who preceded her in death. On June 5, 1954 she married Clyde Shaffer who preceded her in death on September 14, 1994.
Irene was a graduate of Botkins High School. She worked for the Peerless Glove Factory before working for Ken Lugibihl Auto and Truck Center. She was a long-time member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bluffton. She was an avid gardener and loved watching birds and squirrels. She especially enjoyed collecting rocks. She loved traveling and dining out with her family. She was a loyal wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family.
She is survived by two children, Bradley (Marcia) Shaffer of Romney, IN and Anna Maria (Greg) Brenneman of Bluffton; six grandchildren, Zachary (Ann) Brenneman of Findlay, Joshua (Jennifer) Brenneman of Bluffton, Veronica Shaffer of Romney, Greta Shaffer of Romney, Lydia Shaffer of Romney, and Sylvia Shaffer of Romney; five great-grandchildren, Isaiah Newhart (Brenneman) of Bluffton, Candon Brenneman of Findlay, Briahna Brenneman of Findlay, Gunnar Brenneman of Bluffton, and Zoey Brenneman of Bluffton; a sister, JoAnn Averesch of Ottawa; a brother-in-law, Carl "Wendell" Fronk of Uhrichsville, OH; three sisters-in-law, Nancy Kramer of Wapakoneta, Camille Kramer of Wapakoneta, and Linda Kramer of Wapakoneta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was preceded in death by a son, John Shaffer; six siblings, Gloria Bauer, Paul Kramer, Ivo Kramer, Rita Fronk, Kenneth Kramer, and Myron "Mick"' Kramer; two brothers-in-law, Jerome Averesch and Al Bauer; and sister-in-law Alma Kramer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Bluffton at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Luyen Dau to officiate the service. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery following the mass. Visitation will be Thursday, September 8, 2022, 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton with a prayer service starting at 7:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or the Toledo Catholic Charities.
