Pirate boys soccer shut out by Archbold

Pirates host Tree of Life at 6:00 p.m. on August 19

Visiting Archbold defeated the Bluffton boys soccer team 2-0 in the Pirate season opener Tuesday evening, August 15, at Steinmetz Field.

The Archers improved to 2-0 with the win, while Bluffton dropped to 0-1 after the loss.

Archbold’s Jackon Keiser netted the first goal in the 16th minute, and the score remained 1-0 into halftime. Archer Jay Riley netted the other goal in the second half in the 56th minute.

Archbold got off nine shots, while Bluffton fired six shots.

Archer keeper Carter Kruse made six saves, while Pirate goalie Kyle Basil was credited with eight stops. Ethan Nickel added one save.

Bluffton beat Archbold in the junior varsity game, 2-0.

The Pirates host Christian school Tree of Life Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m.
