Margaret Murphy was a nurse and chaplain

Margaret "Peg" M. Murphy, 85, passed away November 7, 2023, at Willow Ridge-Betty House. 

Margaret "Peg" was born July 9, 1938 in Tiffin, OH, to Arthur and Marian (Kamp) Immele who preceded her in death. On September 2, 1961 she married Edward Murphy who preceded her in death on November 12, 2015.

Peg graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School and received her degree in nursing from St. Rita's Hospital School of Nursing. She later received her bachelor's degree from Findlay College and her master's degree in counseling from University of Dayton. Peg was a student of the Toledo Diocesan Ministry Formation Program. She had worked at Mercy Hospital in Tiffin, Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton and a chaplain at St. Rita's Hospital.  Peg was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bluffton where she had been the director of religious education and part of the Women of St. Mary's.  She was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader and received St. George from the Boy Scouts.  

She is survived by her three children, Kevin (Fay) Murphy of Lima, Philip (Lisa) Murphy of Bluffton, and Kathleen Cramer of Dunkirk; three grandchildren, Michael (Sarah) Murphy, Kylie Murphy, and Joshua (Nyoka) Cramer; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a brother in law, Kandy Matthew Cameron of Tiffin, OH.

She is preceded in death by a son in law, Paul Cramer; five siblings, Martha Boyer, Marilyn Hill, Michael Immele, Robert Immele, and Elizabeth Cameron; and brother in law, Ernest Boyer.

A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Bluffton with Fr. John Murray to officiate the service. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Monday, November 13, 2023 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services of Bluffton from 4:00-7:30 p.m. with a vigil service taking place at 7:30 p.m.  

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Black Swamp Area Council for Boy Scouts.
