Billy D. Hollar was a car salesman
Billy D. Hollar, 91, formerly of Bluffton, passed away December 7, 2023, at Promedica Flower Hospital in Sylvania.
Billy was born April 27, 1932 in Lima, Ohio to Stanley and Loretta Jennivie (Worthington) Hollar who preceded him in death. On July 27, 1956 he married Bonnie (Parish) Hollar who preceded him in death on November 15, 2019.
He was a graduate of Lima South High School where he excelled at basketball. Afterwards he served in the Air Force during the Korean War conflict. He worked as a salesman for several car dealerships in the Toledo area, including Vin Devers and Westpointe Car Dealerships in Sylvania, Ohio. Since 1955, he was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Lima, Eerie #370. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, playing cards, camping, horse racing, car clubs, traveling, driving, watching basketball and westerns, and meeting with his friends for McDonald’s coffee every Tuesday. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Joni (Kieron) Tyler of London, UK, Julie Hunter-Jamison of Panguitch, UT, Calvin (Amy) Hollar of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Jill (Timothy) Price of Temperance, MI, Jana (Bruce) Cochran of Oakland, CA, and Michael (Michelle) Hollar of Dublin, OH; 13 grandchildren, Sean (Lori) Hunter, Shannon Hunter, Carson (Joe) Hollar, Toni Dale (Todd ) Hollar, Aaron Hollar, Amanda Price, Jessica (Ryan) Kay, Riley Rausch, Griffin (Sage) Rausch, Madison (Joshua) Banks, Alexander (Dalia) Banks, Koda Cochran, and Tobias Cochran; ten great grandchildren; and a sister, Glenna Barnett.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Services will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton with Ronald Geiser to officiate the service. Burial will be in Ebenezer Mennonite Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Thursday, December 14, 2023, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
