History of Radio and Watercolor Painting CLEO courses announced
First Mennonite Church of Bluffton has announced two courses to be part of its CLEO (Continued Learning Elder Organization) program for spring 2024. You are invtied to "Come to Learn, Stay for Community." Courses are free; materials fees may apply.
The History of Radio, moderated by Tim Schumacher. Radio was the first instant mass communication invention. The course will explore:
- Cultural changes during the time of radio
- The history of the radio
- Social environment in America before, during and after the radio era
- Entertainment in radio
Week 4 will also feature a display of radios.
First Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall
February 14, 21, 28 and March 6 Wednesday
10:00-11:15 a.m.
Watercolor Painting, moderated by Beth Boehr. This course will introduce you to basic watercolor painting. The skills introduced over four weeks will be:
- Color play, learn about color theory, color mixing, color gradients, create watercolor, color wheel, washes and pulling color.
- Brushstroke play, brusihg shapes, lines, wet on wet, wet on dry, leaves and branches, balls flower petals.
- Nature play, combing all we learned about color into a wreath of flowers
- Continuing watercolor play, finish anything needing embellishment, play with landscapes, trees and flowers.
First Mennonite, Lower Level Fellowship hall
February 15, 22, 29 and March 7.
Class limit of 8 students; the course is free but materials cost $20.00.
