Pirate girls tennis falls to Defiance

DEFIANCE __ The Bluffton High School girls tennis team lost 4-1 at WBL foe Defiance on Wednesday, September 4.

Genevieve Gatchel posted the lone Pirate win at third singles. She defeated Rory Bright handily by a 6-1, 6-1 count.

Defiance won the first singles matches over Brooklyn Moser (6-1, 6-0), and took the second singles bout against Hannah Nieman (6-3, 6-1). 

At first doubles, the Pirate duo of Omlor and Klinger was defeated 6-2, 6-2.

At second doubles, the Bluffton tandem of Bowling and Angel narrowly lost in a third-set tiebreaker. They lost the first set 6-3, took the second 7-6 and lost the third, 11 points to nine.

Bluffton plays in the Elida Invitational September 7.
