NORTH ROBINSON – The Bluffton High School girls swim team finished second at the 10-team North Central Ohio Swim League championship meet hosted by Colonel Crawford Saturday, while the Pirate boys came in a strong third.
Perennial power Colonel Crawford swept the boys, girls and combined team titles.
Pirate Jackson Bowlus rolled to two individual league titles, both in meet-record times. He touched first in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Bowlus broke his own 2024 NCOSL record in the 50 free by .37. Bowlus shaved .09 off the league meet record in the 100 backstroke set in 2023.
Bluffton’s Jenna Downey raced to first in the girls 50 free. Xavier Diller also won the 100 butterfly.
CC won the combined 11-team NCOSL championship with 656 points, followed by Upper Sandusky (462) and Bluffton (393).
CC won the girls team crown with 357 points, while Bluffton was second with 214.
The Eagles also captured the boys title with 299 points to edge out the Rams of US by 15 points and Bluffton (179).
The CC girls have won nine straight league championships. The Eagle boys have won three of the last five NCOSL crowns.
Bluffton is slated to swim against Ada at the Putnam County YMCA Thursday, January 23 at 6 p.m.
