How long have you been a Bluffton Icon reader?
Take our poll: How long have you been a Bluffton Icon reader?
By Paula Pyzik Scott
The Bluffton Icon is approaching 7,000 Facebook fans! That makes us curious to know how many readers are new and how many have been reading for up to 16 years!
The Icon was founded in fall 2009 by Fred Steiner, who made the courageous leap from being the editor of a subscriber-based print newspaper to the editor free online news supported by local advertising. He created the Ada Icon in 2012.
In September 2021 I became the owner-editor of the Bluffton and Ada Icons. I work closely with website designer Ryan Lowry, who has been the technical director of the Icon since its inception.
All of our advertisers are local and the majority have supported the Bluffton Icon from the very start.
The Icon also depends on local content creators and the engagement of the local community in the form of tips, inquiries and media releases. The current roster of Bluffton Icon contributors includes:
Benji Bergstrand
Blanchard Valley Health System
James Crawfis
Marvin Foster
Liz Gordon-Hancock
Bill Herr
Healthwise Pharmacy
Jamie Nygaard
Cort Reynolds
Betsi Werling
Charles Wright
Thank you to all for supporting the Bluffton Icon.
