April is Community Banking Month

CNB celebrates with Community Shred Days and fraud prevention education

The month of April is recognized as National Community Banking Month. Citizens National Bank will be providing fraud education as part of its campaign this year.

In 2024, 62 million Americans experienced credit card fraud, with unauthorized purchases exceeding $6.2 billion annually. Sixty-three percent of US credit card holders have been victimized by fraud, some multiple times, and Citizens continues to see increased cases in its own customer base.

Fraud prevention displays will be in all CNB branches, providing tips on how card fraud can happen and how to prevent it.

CNB branches will also host Community Shred Day on Friday, April 25, offering the public an opportunity to safely shred personal information. Items to be shredded will be accepted during normal business hours of each office. There is a limit of 3 standard office size boxes or grocery bags per household. Items to be shredded could include:

  • Financial Statements
  • Canceled & Blank Checks
  • Paycheck Stubs
  • Credit Card & Account Numbers
  • Personal Records and Tax records
  • Medical records
  • Any items containing your social security number or signature.
  • Any mail or magazines that have personal identifiers
  • No need to remove staples or paper clips

No electronic items will be accepted. All paper material will be destroyed by Allshred Services, an NAID Certified Company.

Offices will also have sweet treats available that day in celebration of Community Banking Month and drawings for community gift baskets will be held at each office. The baskets are valued at more than $150.

Entries may be made in office or online at our website, https://www.cnbohio.com/cbm-2025/. The drawing for the baskets will be held on Friday, April 25.
