April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month
From Crime Victim Services of Lima
“If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together” (African Proverb). Crime Victim Services is celebrating Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April, using the theme of togetherness. Together, we can help others. Together, we can overcome. Together, we can heal.
Communities make powerful positive impacts when we join together to promote well-being and engage in perseverance and growth. Evidence tells us that communities that support one another raise benefits for all. In April, and beyond, we invite community members to collaborate with Crime Victim Services to learn about sexual assault and pass along resources to others around you. Take a minute to say, “We believe you”, and call our office for free, confidential support.
If you, or someone you know, is or has ever been a victim of sexual violence, call Crime Victim Services and ask for the Day One program, which serves survivors of sexual violence and human trafficking. We provide a 24/7 crisis line; 24/7 hospital advocacy; legal advocacy; campus advocacy; crisis intervention; and case management and supportive services. We provide management for our local Child Advocacy Center serving children who have been sexually abused. Our work is not in isolation. More than a dozen community partners and countless individuals serve in this endeavor with us, working to end sexual violence.
During the month of April, our Day One program is collaborating with several Lima area businesses for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Check out the following businesses and individuals to enjoy their goods and services but also to support the work of Day One and learn more about how you can prevent sexual violence:

- Central District Building
- Haehn’s Simply Brewed
- Lady Redd Fitness
- Lima Mall
- Lima Social House
- Phoenix Nutrition

The community is also invited to our 2nd Annual Pound & Paint at Bradfield Community Center on April 3, 2025 from 5:30-7:30pm. Come enjoy an evening of cookies, cardio drumming, and umbrella painting with our Day One Team!
