Earl D. Bixel, 75, passed away surrounded by family on March 11, 2022. A Bluffton native, Earl was born on February 4, 1947. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Truman M. and Levada M. (Balmer) Bixel.  

On Saturday, March 12, Bluffton Boy Scout Troop 256 is collecting food items to benefit the Bluffton Food Pantry.

Please place canned goods and non-perishable foods in bags and place the bags on your front steps by 9:00 a.m. Please do not include glass items.

Scouts will pick up the items and take them to the Bluffton Food Pantry, located within St. John's United Church-Christ, 223 W College Ave.

During Melissa Florer-Bixler’s Keeney Peace Lecture at Bluffton University, the pastor and author addressed what she described as some of the most pressing concerns for society today: third way politics, cancel culture and polarization.

As an enthusiastic if fairly timid cyclist, I was interested to find a list of bicycle safety safety tips in the Icon’s inbox from the Allen County Health Department. With my “step through” ladies’ frame and wicker basket, I probably resemble Miss Gulch from the Wizard of Oz, minus the bright-eyed terrier captive. In a town the size of Bluffton, a bike is a great transportation option. In the days of $4/gallon gas, it’s looking even better.

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will host a member breakfast on Friday, March 11. The meeting will be held on the third floor of the Town Hall, 154 N. Main.

Eikenbary Landscape is the breakfast sponsor; Greenhorn is the breakfast provider.

You'll find a display of storytime related books and free rainbow craft kits (construction paper-cotton balls)--and Bernie the bear--in the children's section of the Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main.
