Lillian Mae Weyer, 80 died at 11:45 a.m., April 17, 2011 at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. She was born Nov. 26, 1930, in Lima to Karl and Magdalean (Kayser) Zimmerman. On June 22, 1950, she married Jack Weyer and he survives.
She retired from Bluffton Schools as a librarian and treasurer after 21 years. She also worked at the Peerless Ohio Glove Factory, Triplett Corporation, both of Bluffton, Montgomery Ward of Lima and was a devoted babysitter.
The Bluffton University softball team hosted Heartland Conference rival Defiance College on Wednesday, April 13, and split the doubleheader. The Beavers lost 5-3 to the Yellow Jackets, but came back to win the second game, 4-3. Bluffton improved to 6-4 in the HCAC and 14-13 overall. Defiance moved to 3-3 in the conference and 11-17 overall.
The Bluffton University softball team hosted Hanover College on Sunday, April 17, for a rescheduled HCAC double header that had originally been slated to be played at Hanover. The Beavers put up two runs in the seventh inning to sneak by the Panthers, 11-10. Bluffton proved more dominant in the second game as they took a 16-2 victory in five innings. The Beavers improved to 16-13 overall with an 8-4 mark in the HCAC. Hanover fell to 5-17 on the season and 1-7 in the HCAC.
The Bluffton University baseball team scored an impressive 29 runs in a doubleheader sweep of pre-season Heartland Conference favorite Franklin College on Sunday, April 17, 2011. The Beavers scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the first game 9-8 and won 20-13 in game two. Bluffton improved to 4-10 in the Heartland Conference and 12-17 overall. Franklin fell to 18-10 on the season and 8-6 in the HCAC.
