Campus Life pool parties will be held on Wednesdays from 8:30-10:00 p.m. at the Bluffton Community Pool, 205 Snider Rd.

The cost is $3.00; snacks will also be for sale.

The events are open to any student who has finished 5th grade through 2022 graduates.

UPDATE: Because of the forecast for rain, this event has been moved to Greenhorn, 112 Vine St.

The Jerry Szabo Trio will perform beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday June 8.

The event was orignially planned for the alley next to Roots. Stay tuned for future outdoor events in the alley.

Greenhorn serves internationally inspired plant-based food that is made from scratch using seasonal, organic, and locally sourced ingredients.

Bluffton Elementary School music teacher Alice Basinger has retired after 30 years and was celebrated by her colleagues at a party during the last week of school. They presented her with an album of mementos from current students.

The Icon quizzed her, what did the teacher learn during her time at the elementary school? Basinger responded, “I tried to be more relaxed, because I’m very structured.” She also noted that she learned from the wisdom of other teachers including Nancy Fultz and Nancy Yeager.

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its last monthly meeting of the 2021-2022 seaon at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10 at Bluffton Town Hall, 154 N. Main St.

The chamber will host Jesse Blackburn, Village Administrator, who will provide a State of the Village update, including a number of projects that the village is working on and how they will affect and benefit the community. 

The breakfast is sponsored by Ryan P. DeMarco, CRPC®, Edward Jones financial advisor. The meal will be provided by Greenhorn.

Faculty from eight Mennonite institutions of higher education in the United States and Canada came together May 26-27, 2022, for the Marpeck Deans Conference hosted by Bluffton University. Following the theme “Transcending Disciplinary Boundaries,” sessions focused on how productive teaching, learning and research emerge through interdisciplinary approaches and curricula.

The conference provided participants a way to both learn what is going well on other campus and make connections with colleagues at different Mennonite campuses.

The Bluffton Lions Foundation will host the Eighth Annual Ride to Remember on Saturday, July 16. The event will be held as an in-person event but will also include an option to ride on your own time at any location.

“The town of Bluffton is excited to welcome riders to the 8th annual Ride to Remember. Join us for a tour of the beautiful northwest Ohio countryside,” said Travis Music, co-committee chair.
