The Bluffton varsity softball team battled hard against visiting perennial power Crestview before losing 8-6 in a Northwest Conference makeup game Friday evening.

The Pirate girls had their five-game win streak snapped with the tough defeat.

Crestview improved to 12-1 overall and stayed first in the NWC at 4-0 by winning the game between the last two unbeaten teams in league play.

The Lady Pirates fell to 5-5 overall and 2-1 in the NWC with the loss.

FOP 109 Warthogs vs. Toledo Police Hockey

The Cube Ice Arena in Findlay, Ohio will host the Hockey Helping Heroes initiative of the First Responder Face-Off Foundation to town on Friday, May 6. The event features a charity hockey game between the FOP 109 Warthogs vs. the Toledo Police Hockey team. Proceeds from the game benefit the family of Officer Dominic Francis of the Bluffton Police Department. Officer Francis was killed in the line of duty March 31, 2022 and was a member of the Fort Findlay FOP Lodge #20.

Register by April 24 / Tournament April 30

Bluffton Family Recreation and Southgate Lanes are collaborating on a cornhole tournament to be held at the bowling alley, 9700 N Dixie Hwy, at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30.

The double elimination tournament is $50 per team with prizes for first and second places. Registration deadline is April 24.

Registration is open for Community Vacation Bible School, July 17-21, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Bluffton Presbyterian Church 112 N. Main St., Bluffton.

VBS classes will be held for two age groups: Preschool (age 3 ½ and up) and K-1st, 2nd-5th. This summer’s VBS theme is Mega Sports Camp.
