Cryolipolysis, better known as CoolSculpting, is a process of freezing fat. For individuals with healthy eating habits and an active lifestyle, cryolipolysis is a safe and effective way to reduce excess fat. CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss treatment but is for individuals at or near their ideal body weight, who want to reduce stubborn fat pockets in one or more of the nine treatment areas approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

Weekend doctor: Urinary incontinence

Urinary incontinence (UI), the loss of bladder control, is a common and often embarrassing problem. An estimated 15 million adult women in the U.S. are affected by urinary incontinence.

There are different types of urinary incontinence, including stress incontinence, overflow incontinence, urge incontinence or the most common type, mixed incontinence, which is a combination of all types.

She is one of the first people to greet Bluffton newborns

Dr. Jessica Aderman, pediatric hospitalist at Bluffton Hospital

Dr. Jessica Aderman, D.O., is one of the first people to greet newborns at Bluffton Hospital.

Joining the staff on Nov. 11, Dr. Aderman is the second pediatric hospitalist at Bluffton. She and Dr. Jennifer Hohman, M.D., share duties of meeting each Bluffton Hospital newborn within 24 hours of birth.

In addition to Drs. Aderman and Hohman, Dr. Darrel Hotmire, D.O., Bluffton physician, also provides some newborn care at the hospital.

Birchaven Village Hosting ‘Bazaar Days’ DEC. 13-23

Birchaven Village will host its annual Bazaar Days’ craft and bake sale on Friday, Dec. 13, through Monday, Dec. 23, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The special event will take place on Birchaven’s indoor “Main Street,” 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay. The event is open to the public.

Bazaar Days will feature a variety of items handmade by residents, staff, volunteers and families. Items for sale include:

Homemade hardtack candy, fudge, buckeyes and dipped pretzels

Hand-crocheted doilies and other items

One-of-a-kind tree ornaments

Gifts for teachers

Weekend doctor: Constipation in children

“Have you pooped today? Did you have any problem with pooping?” It seems I have this kind of conversation with my son at home every day.

As a doctor, I usually need to ask similar pooping questions for every well visit and even most acute visits at the office.

As we all know, a normal bowel pattern is a very important sign of our good health. However, constipation is a very common health problem in children of all ages.

Bridge offers children’s “Holiday Memories” grief support group

Bridge Home Health and Hospice offers “Holiday Memories” grief support program for children ages 6 to 12 who have lost a loved one, allowing them to remember those who have passed in a healthy setting. 

This event will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Marathon Auditorium at Blanchard Valley Hospital, 1900 S. Main St., Findlay.

Holiday Memories is offered through Bridge’s Group S.T.A.R. (Special Times, Always Remembered). Dinner will be provided for the children and RSVP is required by Dec. 5.
