Golf scramble winning team

The team of Bob Hollar, Dan Garlock, George Hakin and Joe Bailey won the second annual Friends of the Bluffton Public Library golf scramble, held June 9, at the Bluffton Golf Club.

Nine teams participated in the second annual "Birdies for Bookworms" golf scramble.

Following the round of golf and several proximity contests on the course, players enjoyed a dinner and the distribution of door prizes.

Bluffton Public Library will be closed from Monday, July 2, to Saturday, July 7, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. The bookdrop will also remain closed during that week.

Both the library and the bookdrop will reopen to the public at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 9. Due to state funding cuts that exceed $75,000 per year, the library's board of trustees has approved closing additional days around the holidays to reduce expenses and to avoid reducing regular hours during the year.

In anticipation of joining the SEO (Serving Every Ohioan) consortium, Bluffton Public Library is asking the public for donations of shipping materials.

Heavy duty rubber bands, bubble wrap and padded envelopes (7 inch by 9 inch or larger) are being collected by the library.

For more information, please contact the library at 419-358-5016.
