Bluffton University Theatre presents ‘The Diary of Anne Frank’

Dr. Melissa Friesen, professor of theatre, chose “The Diary of Anne Frank” as this year’s fall play at Bluffton University for both its historical elements and continued importance as a story today.  

“The danger of hatred, fascism, political and ideological differences separating society so strongly that some people want to destroy other people, sadly feels very relevant in the world right now,” said Friesen. 

Esports coordinator hired by Bluffton University

Bluffton University has named Brian Williams to the newly created position of Esports coordinator. He will be responsible for the overall direction of Esports at Bluffton including planning, coaching, recruiting and managing the co-ed Esports program, which will be Bluffton's 19th varsity sport starting in the 2023-24 academic year.

Mindful Improv explored by Bluffton Univ. alumnus

A funny thing happened on the way to Bluffton University’s fall 2022 Spiritual Life Week. 2010 alumnus Andrea Flack-Wetherald, a social worker turned improv performer turned best-selling author, served as the guest speaker as students explored Ephesians 4:29-32 and the theme “Let’s Talk… About Building Each Other Up.”

Bluffton University trustees meeting for Fall 2022

The Bluffton University Board of Trustees met in October for their annual fall meeting. The board welcomed a returning member, toured the Knowlton Science Center construction site and approved new endowments.

Mark your calendar: Dec. 11 Handel's Messiah

The 2022 music season at Bluffton University will culminate with the 128th performance of Handel's "Messiah" at 4:00 p.m. on December 11.

Under the direction of Dr. Bo Young Kang, director of choral activities, this performance will feature orchestra and soloists. Tickets are required but free of charge. A free-will offering will be accepted.

Cast announced for Diary of Anne Frank

Bluffton University Theatre will present the play “The Diary of Anne Frank” based upon “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl” from November 10-13. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10-12, and at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 13, in Ramseyer Auditorium in College Hall.

The play is by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett and newly adapted by Wendy Kesselman. Dr. Melissa Friesen, professor of theatre and communication, will direct the show.
