Personal story of Russia’s attack on Ukraine

A Findlay resident and native of Ukraine will present the Forum “The Road to No Home: From Ukrainian Citizen to Refugee,” at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1 in Bluffton University’s Yoder Recital Hall.

During the presentation, Lana Mosser, a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Findlay, will tell the story of her sister’s flight from Ukraine after Russia attacked the country on Feb. 24, 2022.

The presentation is free and open to the public. Forum is Bluffton’s weekly gathering of students, faculty, staff and community for interdisciplinary conversation and discovery.

Alumni honored during Bluffton University Homecoming

Exceptional Bluffton University alumni are honored each year during Homecoming at the Bluffton University President’s Banquet. This year, Alumni Awards were presented to Kathy (Gaines ’78) Carr for Lifetime Service, and Brandon Freytag ’08 for Outstanding Young Alumni. Three alumni, Ed Smoker ’63, Denny Phillips ’79 and Allison (Lange ’05) Bentley, were inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame. 

Fall instrumental concert at Yoder Recital Hall, October 23

Bluffton University’s fall instrumental concert featuring Concert Band ensembles will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23 at Yoder Recital Hall.

Under the direction of Dr. Roy Couch, music department chair, ensemble selections will include “Bright Shining as the Morning Sun,” “Dancing in Air,” “A Sacred Suite,” “Benediction,” and “…and the antelope play.”

Social work majors to ‘trick or can’ for food pantry

Members of the Bluffton University Social Work Club will take part in a “trick or can” during Bluffton’s trick-or-treat festivities. Students go door to door asking for donations of shelf-stable and nonperishable food items from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27.

Donations may also be left on doorsteps and porches to be collected.

No monetary donations will be accepted. Donations will be delivered to the Bluffton Community Assistance Corporation’s food pantry.

Diary of Anne Frank on stage Nov. 10-13

Ticket sales are open for "The Diary of Anne Frank" at Bluffton University's Ramseyer Auditorium-College Hall.

Opening night will be Thursday, Nov. 10 and continue until Sunday, Nov 13. Tickets are  $6.00-$8.00 and free for Bluffton University students with a passcode.

Ohio Ceramic Invitational at Bluffton University

Bluffton University will host “Inspiration and Innovation,” an Ohio Ceramic Invitational exhibition including works by Curtis Benzele, Kristina Bogdanov, William Brouillard, Bruce Chesser, Scott Dooley, Michael High, Beth Lindenberger, Mark Nafziger and Joy Noriega.

The show will be on display October 24-December 11 at the Sauder Visual Arts Center’s Grace Albrecht Gallery, located off Spring St. north from College Ave. Gallery hours are 9:00 a.m-5:00 p.m. on weekdays and 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
