Dr. Thomas Streeter, professor and chair of sociology at the University of Vermont, will address "The Net Effect: What the Internet Tells us about Ourselves" at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in Bluffton University's Yoder Recital Hall. The forum is free and open to the public.

Streeter is the author of the 2010 book "The Net Effect: Romanticism, Capitalism, and the Internet," a study of the role of culture in the social construction of Internet technology.

The Bluffton University women's soccer team advanced to its first-ever Heartland Conference tournament final match with a 3-2 win over #1 seed Earlham College this afternoon.

They will travel to #2 seed Hanover College for the finals at 1 PM on Saturday, Nov. 5. The winner of that match earns an automatic berth to the NCAA Regional tournament which starts next week.

After working themselves back into the thick of the HCAC race in 2010-11, the Beavers look to be a major 'player' in conference competition again this season with an eye on coming closer to the HCAC championship.

Dr. Raymond Wise, guest musician for Bluffton University's celebration of gospel music the week of Nov. 6, will discuss the topic at a campus forum at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, in Yoder Recital Hall.

His presentation, "Exploring the Significance of African-American Sacred Music," is free and open to the public.
