The Bluffton Track and Field team made the short trip to Ada for the Larry Cole Invite at Ohio Northern University on Friday, Jan. 25.

There were some stellar performances on the women's side. Senior Bailie Barrington (Waynesfield/Waynesfield-Goshen) broke the school record in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:16. She ended up 8th in the field. Another record was broken by freshman Caitlyn Renner (Cairo/Bath) in the long jump. Renner jumped 5.07 meters which put her 3rd in the competition. This distance has her 1st amongst HCAC long-jump competitors.

The Bluffton University women's basketball team traveled to Terre Haute, Ind. on Saturday, Jan. 25, for a matchup against the Rose-Hulman Engineers. The Beavers fought until the last seconds but dropped a 43-40 decision to the Engineers. The loss dropped Bluffton to 9-8 (3-7 HCAC), while Rose-Hulman improved to 3-14 (2-8 HCAC).

Alaina Shearer, a seasoned speaker and professional change maker, will share her personal and professional journey toward positive social change at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, in Yoder Recital Hall.

In Shearer’s professional journey, she quickly realized after graduation that extreme sexism and gender discrimination were rampant in her chosen industry - broadcast journalism and then, again, in her second career path: advertising. In 2016, Shearer realized this wasn’t sustainable for her future and founded her own company – Women in Digital (now Together Digital).

Dr. Jane Wood, president of Bluffton University, will share “A Life In Story: The Construction of Personal Narrative,” during a Colloquium presentation at 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall.

During the presentation, President Wood will share how individuals construct the “story” of their lives and how they choose to share it in community.
