Mercy Health Lima President speaks on mission and relationships at Bluffton University Presidential Leadership Forum

Just as it is stressed at Bluffton, Ronda Lehman, president of Mercy Health, Lima,believes relationships are the key to getting things done.

“It’s relationships, relationships, relationships,” said Lehman, who spoke during Bluffton University’s Presidential Leadership Forum on Jan. 14 in Yoder Recital Hall. “You are building your reputation every day, and how you treat people is everything.”

The Bluffton University women's basketball team played host to the Anderson University Ravens in a Heartland Conference clash on Saturday, Jan. 18. After going up 7-2 early in the contest, Bluffton struggled to find the net the rest of the way, resulting in a 60-47 loss for the home team. Bluffton fell to 9-6 overall and 3-5 in the Heartland Conference, while Anderson improved to 6-9 and 2-6 in the HCAC.

The Bluffton University men's basketball team played host to Anderson University in a Heartland Conference tilt on Saturday, Jan. 18. After a disappointing lossat Earlham College on Wednesday night, the home team was looking to get back in the win column and they did just that by knocking off the Ravens, 81-71. Bluffton improved to 8-7 overall and 4-4 in the conference, while Anderson fell to 8-7 overall and 5-3 in the HCAC.

This year's Bluffton University athletics hall of fame inductees

Three exceptional Bluffton University alumni will be honored this year during Bluffton’s Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 15.

In addition, students who have served as mascots J. Denny and Jenny Beaver in 2019, will be revealed. 

Sarah (Betts ’06) vonSeggern will be inducted for achievements in softball. One of the best pitchers in Bluffton softball history, she was previously inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of Bluffton’s 2004 softball team.

The Bluffton University men's basketball team traveled to Earlham, Ind., on Wednesday, Jan.15, to take on the Earlham College Quakers in a mid-week Heartland Conference clash. It went back-and-forth but unfortunately for the Beavers, the Quakers would pull away late, sealing a 74-67 setback for the visitors. Bluffton fell to 7-7 overall and 3-4 in the Heartland Conference, while Earlham improved to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in the HCAC.

 Dr. Jane Wood, president of Bluffton University, will share “A Life In Story: The Construction of Personal Narrative,” during a Colloquium presentation at 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall. 

During the presentation, President Wood will share how individuals construct the “story” of their lives and how they choose to share it in community.
