Is a donor-advised fund right for you?

You can find many ways to support charitable organizations. One method that’s gained popularity over the past few years is called a donor-advised fund. Should you consider it?

The answer depends on your individual situation, because donor-advised funds are not appropriate for everyone. However, if you’re in a position to make larger charitable gifts, you might at least want to see what this strategy has to offer.

Winning tickets for October Discovery Day

The following winning numbers have been announced by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce for the October 22 Discovery Day prize drawing:

First Prize – 739775

Third Prize – 608380

Ticket holders can pick up their Bluffton Bucks prizes at the Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main St. through November 30.

GROB-Rhodes State apprenticeship program celebrates 10 years

Rhodes State College and GROB Systems of Bluffton have celebrated their 10th anniversary of being apprenticeship  partners. Students in the apprenticeship program can earn their degrees from Rhodes State  College while getting hands-on training from GROB.

To date, over 200 degrees have been awarded through this program. In addition, 270 apprentices have been hired after completing  their training.

New Et Cetera window display announced

Chrissy Lugibihl and Janette Reineke get creative when they announce monthly window displays at the Et Cetera thrift shop, 327 N. Main, via video. The latest is "START WITH ART!"

Items in the previous display will be for sale Friday, October 21 at 1:00 p.m. 

Their mesage also includes "Thank you for supporting your local MCC Thrift Shop!"

Last chance to vote... For your favorite scarecrow

A last call for votes has been issued by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce: a vote for your favorite scarecrow decoration in downtown Bluffton, that is.

The deadline is Wednesday, October 19. There are paper ballots available at the Bluffton Senior Center and you can vote online at explorebluffton.com/scarecrows

Reminder: Bluffton chamber members meet Oct. 14

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly breakfast meeting on Friday, October 14. The meeting is held on the third floor of the Town Hall, 154 N. Main St.
