The Swiss Community Historical Society is inviting the public to join in singing of traditional New Year’s Eve carols of the Swiss Settlement, Bluffton-Pandora.
From 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, carolers will gather at the Maple Crest lobby, 700 Maple Crest Court, Bluffton. Caroling will take place at Maple Crest first, then Willow Ridge, 101 Willow Ridge Drive, and finally at Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W Elm St.
Bluffton High School junior class post-prom committee will hold at Denim and Diamonds event from 7 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, at Crimson Lane, Ada.
The event is an adult night of fun and relaxation. Tickets are $40 per person or $280 for a table of eight.
Admission includes live entertainment by Red Feather and a chance to win the grand prize of a diamond heart necklace, valued at $200.
Babysitting is available for K-5 grade children. A shuttle bus will run between Bluffton and Crimson Lane.
Bluffton High School and Pandora-Gilboa High School choirs are among 25 high school choirs participating in TV-44’s annual holiday music festival this month.
Portions of choral selections will appear on TV-44 throughout the month of December and in full, Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25
Rhodes State College will host its annual Career Day on Friday, Dec. 14, from 9:50 a.m. – noon. This year, over 1,592 students from 32 area high schools are planning to be on campus.
Career Day is an annual half-day event that offers 11th grade students in northwest Ohio an opportunity to explore college and career-related sessions of personal interest.
Quarry Farm mugs created by Brandon Knott are now available to purchase. The mugs are $20 each and are glazes in a variety of colors. Each includes a sculpted “cookie” on the front.
Persons who have attended events at the Quarry Farm know that cookies are always part of every event.

The ONU Astronomy Club, Ada, hosts a "Comet Wirtanen" event from 8 to 10 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7, in the ONU Observatory, according to Dr. Jason Pinkney, manager of the observatory.
"We have been clouded out on previous events, but the current forecast for Friday suggests less than 40% cloud cover – we may be able to get a glimpse of the brightest comet of 2018," he said.
The comet is making a great appearance because it will be passing so close to the Earth (12 million km, or about 1/13 of the distance to the Sun).
