Native plants education, sales event  

Hancock County Master Gardeners and the Hancock Park District are teaming up to offer native  plant education and sales to benefit area gardeners. The event will be at the Oakwoods Nature  Preserve Discovery Center, Saturday September 16, from 9:00 a.m.-noon. Programs about native plants that benefit wildlife, pollinators and the environmentin are free and open to the public. New exhibits and ”Ask-A-Master Gardener” gardening assistance will be part of the event.

Garden Club event at Stratton Greenhouses

Stratton Greenhouses will be hosting the September 12 Gardeners of Bluffton-Pandora meeting. The event will start at 6:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Participants are asked to bring their own chairs.

Susie Stratton, the owner of Stratton's Greenhouse and Roots by Stratton's, will be speaking about new varieties and types of perennials and shrubs. Questions are appreciated. Afterwards, participants will be able to walk around the greenhouse to purchase plants.

Stratton's Greenhouse is located at 9915 Lincoln Hwy, Bluffton, OH 45817.

Advance care planning workshops held by doctoral nursing student

Bluffton resident and doctoral nursing student Ruth Myers will facilitate three Advance Care Planning workshops at Ada First United Methodist Church as community health outreach.

The events will be held on September 23, October 21 and November 18 from 1-:00-4:00 p.m. Childcare is available for registered participants. Please register by scanning the QR code or contact Ruth Myers or the church office: [email protected] or 419-634-4626.

New date for annual Quarry Farm jam session

    9th Annual Quarry Farm Jam

The 9th annual Quarry Farm Jam has been rescheduled from Saturday, September 9, to Saturday, September 16 at 6:00 p.m.

The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve & Conservation Farm, Pandora, hosts the organization’s annual Jam for musicians and music enthusiasts. Whether you play an instrument like a virtuoso or just like to pretend, sing along or listen, people of all ages are invited to this family-friendly event.

Corle-Agner and Gratz: Live music in the Roots alley

UPDATE: This event takes place from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Nancy Corle-Agner and Phil Gratz (PHOTO) will be playing in the alley next to Roots by Strattons on Wednesday, August 30.

The duo will "weave an adventurous thread of decades-spanning acoustic takes on tunes fun, tragic and mystic." The event includes food by Greenhorn. Bring a lawn chair and a friend to enjoy music in the alley.

Special events for early birds and night owls

Even if your family no longer has youngsters in school, it's pretty hard to miss the transition from summer to school year in Bluffton--both the Bluffton Schools and Bluffton University start classes on Monday. Fortunately, this weekend provides plenty of leisure activities to distract us from the upcoming transition.
