"Man of Steel" and "Lone Ranger" both showing at Shannon Theatre

Two shows will be playing now through Thursday, September 26 at Shannon Theatre.

"Man of Steel" (PG-13) is playing every evening at 7 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 1:30 p.m.

"The Lone Ranger" (PG-13) is playing every evening at 9:30 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 4 p.m.

Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn flavor of the month September is Caramel Apple.

Amil Tellers/Encore Theatre presents Blithe Spirit

Amil Tellers/Encore Theatre presents Noel Coward's award-winning classic comedy "Blithe Spirit" Sept. 20-21-22 and again Sept. 27-28-29.

Performances are at 8 p.m. all evenings except for a 2 p.m. performance on Sept. 29.

Members of the cast are Chadrick McNeal, Alana Fickel, Kedryn Carpenter, Kim Warnecke, Brian Emerick, Ashley Shank and Sarah Bennett. The production is directed by George Dunster.

Tickets are adults, $15; seniors (62+), $12; youth (through high school), $10.

Saturday cruise in supports Kuhlman-McClain baseball tour

A fund-raiser to support the coast-to-coast baseball opportunity for Zak Kulhman and Christopher McClain is planned with registration starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Beaverdam village park.

The event is a cruise-in acceping all makes and models of vehicles. There is a $10 entry for vehicle owners.

Other events taking place food and drinks available and a 50-50 drawing. Awards will be presented for a people's choice, best truck, best car, best motorcycle.

Bluffton schools open house Sept. 30

The Bluffton Schools will hold a district-wide open house on Monday evening, Sept. 30.  The elementary school will be open from 6 – 7 p.m., the middle school from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., and the high school from 7 – 8 p.m.

Several community organizations will have booths set-up in the elementary gymnasium and information will be available on ways to provide support to the school and community.

Swiss Historical Society turns back the clock during Sept. 28 Fall Festival

The Bluffton Fall Festival is Saturday, Sept. 28. Events take place in several locations around Bluffton. This is part of a series detailing events at specific locations. This story tells about events at the Swiss Community Historical Society homestead.

The annual Fall Festival at the Homestead will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. by the Swiss Community Historical Society of Bluffton and Pandora. The Schumacher Homestead is located at 8350 Bixel Road between Bluffton and Pandora, and the event is free and open to the public.

Next Bluffton blood drive Oct. 3 at St. Mary's Catholic Church

The next American Red Cross blood drive in Bluffton will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3, from noon until 6 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in the Large Room, located at 160 N. Spring Street.

All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
