"The Bluffton Senior Center would like to invite everyone to visit Ohio with us," according to Tonya Meyer, director.
Future trips include a train ride on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad followed by a tour of America's Ice Cream and Dairy Museum with a taste test of homemade ice cream, a trip to the Creation Museum and Entertrainment in Cincinnati, a trip to Plain City to see the show "The Spirit of America" followed by a stop in Amish country, and a trip to the Wilds and the Shultz Mansion.
June is a busy month for the Bluffton Senior Citizens Association. Here are some of the activities planned:
June 4-5 - craft supply sale, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
June 9 - Bus tri to LaComedia
June 14 - Monthly dinner meeting, 6 p.m.
June 17 - Coach trip to Cuyahoga Valley train trip
June 17 - Community meal, 6 p.m.
June 24 - Rescheduled bus trip to Creation Museum
June 29 - Bus trip to Der Dutchman
Enrollment is underway for next fall's Bluffton Community Preschool classes, according to Elisha Reineke, director.
Classes are held in the basement of First Mennonite Church and the school year runs from September to May. Any children who are 3 years old by Aug. 1 but not enrolled in kindergarten are eligible.
The students of Krysti's Music Studio will present their spring recitals at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, at Rockport United Methodist Church (5505 Rockport Road), and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at Bluffton Presbyterian Church.
Bluffton Public Library will host a discussion of Kathryn Stockett's book "The Help" at Common Grounds Coffeehouse and Caf'e on Wednesday, June 9, at 10 a.m. Copies of the book are available at the library. The Bluffton Senior Center will offer a Beginner Crochet Class in June. The class will offer a brief history of crocheting, learn five basic stitches and how to read a pattern.
The class will be Tuesday, June 15 and June 22 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $5 for Senior Center members, $7 for non-members and children under the age of 14 are free with a paying adult.
Crochet hooks and yarn will be provided at the first class. Reservations can be made by calling 419-358-8971 or stop by the Bluffton Senior Center during regular business hours.
