Candy making class at Maple Crest Dec. 2

Interested in learning about making holiday candy? Maple Crest Senior Living Village, Bluffton, is offering a candy-making class at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 2.

"Come and learn how to make Christmas bark, turtles, buckeyes and more," said Julie Stratton. "There is limited space so don't delay in signing up. There is no cost and you can take your candies home with you. Get your best friend to come with you and have a sweet time."

Concentus Christmas concert Dec. 17

Concentus will perform a benefit Christmas concert on Thursday, Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Yoder Recital Hall.

This choir, formed in the fall of 2003, will perform John Rutter's "Gloria" and numerous Christmas carols. Joining Concentus this year will be a brass and percussion ensemble, performing with the choir on the Rutter piece. A free-will offering will be taken. Half of the offering will go to support the recent earthquake and flood victims in southern Asia. The other half will cover the program expenses.

Financial aid meeting Dec. 9 at BHS

Bluffton High School's guidance department will hold a financial aid meeting for parents of juniors and seniors who are planning to continue their education beyond high school.

The meeting is at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the BHS cafeteria. Mary Cannon, director of financial aid at Bluffton University, is the presenter. She will discuss financial aid and the filing of the FAFSA form.

Next Bluffton blood drive Dec. 3

First Mennonite Church, Bluffton, will host an American Red Cross blood drive in December.

The drive is from noon to 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 3, at the church. Persons wanting more information may go to www.givelife.org or call Karen Jantzi, Blood Services Director for Allen County at 419-227-5121.

Dough Hook trades cookies for Food Pantry donations

From Tuesday, Nov. 17, to Saturday, Nov. 21, The Dough Hook, 117 N. Main St., Bluffton, will trading cookies for canned food.

All food collected will be donated to the Bluffton Food Bank. Some items needed include include cereal, canned fruit, spaghettios, ravioli and soup. The trade will be one free cookie for each item donated. Bring in 12 items and receive a dozen cookies free.

Registration deadline for Blaze parade Friday

The deadline for registering for this year's Blaze of Lights parade is Friday, Nov. 21. According to Junior Weihrauch of Arlington, the parade chairperson, over 40 units are already pre-registered.

This year's parade line up is the same as last year's. Line up is at 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 28, at The Centre parking lot, 601 N. Main St. The parade starts at 5 p.m.
