Ski swap set Nov. 1

Mad River Mountain Ski Patrol's annual snow ski swap is planned Sunday, Nov. 1, according to Neil Hauenstein of Bluffton.

For persons selling items equipment check-in begins at 9 a.m. For persons buying items, sale hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Items for sale include gently-used equipment including skis, boots, boards and clothing.

Diller, Carpenter, Conkling, Steiner honorees at Nov. 28 Blaze of Lights

Three long-time Bluffton community supports will serve as 2009 Blaze of Lights parade marshals and the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce CEO will turn on the Blaze lights during the Nov. 28, downtown Bluffton celebration.

According to Beverly Amstutz of the Bluffton Cultural Affairs Committee, parade marshals are Sam Diller, Bluffton attorney, Carlin Carpenter, former Bluffton University football coach, and Greg Conkling, Bluffton pharmacist. Fred Steiner, CEO of the Bluffton Chamber and creator of The Bluffton Icon, will turn on the lights of the Ream holiday folk art display.

Fudge orders taken by hospital auxiliary

Chocolates by Christie~Ac^a'not^a"cs on the Square are available to be ordered now through Friday, Nov. 6, as a holiday fundraiser from the Bluffton Hospital Auxiliary, according to Diane Stratton of the Auxiliary.

Items available include chocolate or peanut butter fudge by the one-half pound. Flavors and prices follow: candy bouquet $14, peanut butter fudge $7, chocolate fudge $7, box of turtles $12, holiday oreos $5.50.

$1,000 grand prize for Big idea contest

BIG IDEA CONTEST ENTRIES DUE BY NOVEMBER 6

The entries for the first ever Bluffton Center for Entrepreneur Big Idea Contest must be postmarked by Oct. 30 or hand delivered to the Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs by Friday, Nov. 6 and includes a fee of $25, payable to the Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs.

Hospital Auxiliary taking orders for Thanksgiving pies

The Bluffton Hospital Auxiliary Thanksgiving meal pie fundraiser is currently underway. Persons interested in supporting it have several options to add to their own Thanksgiving dinner. The pies are from Brinkman's Specialty.

$10 Dutch apple pie

$10 Pecan pie

$10 Fruit of the forest

$10 Sugar-free apple pie
