Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) has announced that Renee Smith, MD will become its new chief medical officer (CMO).
Dr. Smith comes to BVHS from Aspirus Network, Inc. (ANI), a clinically integrated provider network in Wausau, Wisconsin with more than 1,100 physicians, advanced practice clinicians and other providers with 110 practices. Most recently, she served ANI in the capacity of executive director (since 2016) and as medical branch director–emergency operations center (since 2020).

Torticollis is a condition where the muscles on the side of your child's neck are tight, which prevents them from turning their head to both sides equally, or they tilt their head to one side more than the other. There are two types of torticollis. The first being congenital torticollis, which means present at birth. The second is called acquired torticollis, which means it occurred later in infancy or even childhood.

Some of you may be familiar with the idiom “don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” The expression is interpreted as a person that invests or commits all their energy or resources into a single opportunity or goal at the risk of losing everything. We were often given this advice to make sure that we had a backup plan or a plan B so that if the original goal did not come to fruition, we had an alternative. (When you say plan B to a healthcare professional, we often think of the commercially available product for emergency contraception known as Plan B®.)
In 1963, Bob Dylan released the song Blowing in the Wind and it became an anthem for the American Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. His lyrics included “The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind….Yes, and how many times can a man turn his head and pretend that he just doesn’t see? The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.” Bob Dylan is a prolific songwriter who continues to produce music. His latest album release was Rough And Rowdy Ways in 2020. Bob Dylan has won 10 Grammy Awards, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Nobel Prize in Literature.
