New green and white signs have popped up in and near Bluffton marked “25.” They are wayfinding signs for US Bike Route 25 North, which takes cyclists from Toledo to Cincinnati.

Volunteers are the backbone of Bluffton Fire Department

When fighting a fire every minute counts. This is something Bluffton Fire Chief Jon Kinn knows all too well. “An active fire can double in size every 5 minutes. A small ‘room and contents’ fire can turn into a full structure fire in no time if no one is there to fight it.” Kinn said.

Food Pantry needs for July 2024

The Bluffton Community Assistance Corp. has announced the following needs for July 2024 at the Bluffton Food Pantry. Items may now be dropped off at the first floor stairwell at Bluffton Town Hall, 154 N. Main St.

  • Paper items (TP, paper towels, napkins)
  • Lotions and creams
  • Soft soaps
  • Toothpaste and brushes
  • Canned meats (pork, beef, chicken)
  • Canned Tuna
  • Chunky soups
  • Canned fruits (mandarin oranges, pears, apple sauce)
  • Baked beans
  • Chef Boyardee products
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Rice
  • Boxed potato products
  • Cake and cookie mixes
  • Mexican products (salsas, tortillas, refried beans, etc)
  • Cereals and breakfast foods
  • Spaghetti and spaghetti sauce

St. John's UCC contest for free child's bicycle

Application form must be turned in by July 15

Thanks to generous donations in support of the St. John's United Church of Christ Bicycle Ministry, a contest to win a bike shop-quality bicycle and helmet from Bike Crazy LLC has been announced.

The church’s mission is to provide a free bicycle and helmet to children up to 13 years old. The giveaway will focus on local youth who have a need and desire for a high-quality bicycle in the Bluffton, Cory-Rawson and Pandora school districts.

The St. John's Bicycle Ministry Committee will select the best candidate or candidates, based upon how well participants meet the ministry objectives via their submitted responses to four questions on the entry form.  

Parents are welcome to help their children complete the form.

Power outage, cooling stations in Bluffton

During a heat warning on June 17, AEP listed a power outage near SR 103 and County Line Rd. affecting fewer than 10 customers. Estimated restoration is 6:30 p.m.
