Sharon Jolliff, 1943-2013, was a Bluffton College graduate

Sharon K. Jolliff, 70, of Arlington, died at 4:02 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

She was born in Lima, Ohio, on July 13, 1943, to the late Richard H. and Helen (Halker) Zeller. On Oct. 17, 1964, she married Jack L. Jolliff, and he survives in Arlington. She is also survived by two children: Christine M. (Greg) Denecker of Bluffton, and Mark A. (Kristie) Jolliff of Arlington.

Sharon is survived, too, by seven grandchildren: Kathryn, Mitchell, Kendra, Kylie, and Max Jolliff, and Gabe and Luke Denecker.

Peggy Amstutz, 74, was a Beaverdam HS graduate

Peggy A. Amstutz, 74, died at 3:22 pm July 29, 2013, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. She was born March 25, 1939, in Allen County to the late Morris and Martha (Dunlap) Lewis. 

On June 30, 1957, she married Robert Amstutz and he survives.

Peggy was a homemaker and had worked at Family True Value Hardware, Bluffton. She was a member of St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora. She was an auxiliary member of Gideon’s International. She was a graduate of Beaverdam High School.

Phoebe Clapper, 94, was a Bluffton High School graduate

Phoebe Ann Clapper, 94, died at 11:25 p.m. at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.  She was born July 3, 1919, in Hancock County, Ohio to the late John and Mary (Barkimer) Wilkins. On Feb. 23, 1941 she married Boyd L. Clapper and he died Dec. 5, 2010.

Phoebe was a homemaker and had been a 4-H Advisor.  She was an artist and china painter. Phoebe was a graduate of Bluffton High School.

Survivors include a daughter Joyce (Thomas) Martin; a grandchild Elizabeth (Joseph) Darnell; two great grandchildren Reese and Jude Darnell; and a sister Glada Basinger of Pandora.

Raymond Nesler was a retired farmer

Raymond E. Nesler, 88 died July 20, 2013, at Ohio Veteran's Home, Sandusky.  He was born Aug. 4, 1924, in Hancock County to the late Clarence and Verna (Longbrake) Nesler. 

On Aug. 14, 1949, he married Mary Ellen Boehm and she survives. Raymond was a retired farmer and had also been a gasoline distributor.  He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Jenera.  He enjoyed working with draft horses and refinishing furniture.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II where he received a Purple Heart.

Vera Grimm was a former teacher at Holgate High School

Vera L. Grimm, 87 died at 2:40 p.m. July 17, 2013, at Willow Ridge, Bluffton. She was born July 18, 1925 in Berne, Ind. to the late Tilman and Meta (Neuenschwander) Soldner. On June 17, 1948, she married Henry B. Grimm and he died Oct. 19, 1996. 

Mrs. Grimm was a home economics teacher at Holgate High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bluffton. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, singing and was a member of the "Singing Wives Pastors Group." She graduated from Berne High School and Bluffton College.

Dorthy Lloyd was one of the oldest living BHS graduates

Dorothy E. Lloyd, 98, died at 4:40 a.m. July 12, 2013, at Willow Ridge, Bluffton. 

She was born Dec. 15, 1914, in Findlay to the late Charles and Merrine (Montgomery) Lloyd.

She retired from Bluffton Community Hospital in 1982 and also had worked at the Boss Manufacturing Company in Bluffton for 25 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bluffton, Lima YWCA and Bluffton Senior Citizens Center.
