Bluffton native James Franklin Miller, Sr. died Oct. 14, 2012 at age 93 at his home in Mission, Texas.
He was born on Nov. 20, 1918 in Bluffton, Ohio, to Charles and Bertha Miller. The youngest of five children, he was their only boy. Jim graduated from high school and entered Bluffton College at age 16.
Erma L. Augsburger, 93, of Bluffton died at 10:10 p.m. Oct. 17, 2012, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. She was born July 21, 1919, in Lafayette to Albert O. and Sarah A. Hochstettler Badertscher. On July 21, 1945 she married Ralph E. Augsburger and he preceded her in death on June 29, 1983.
Charles R. Emans, 98, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, in Olympia, Washington. He was born in Bluffton, Ohio, June 25, 1914, to Charles F. and Mary A. (Shoemaker) Emans. He married Virginia Bell, Jan. 1, 1939, and they were divorced. He graduated from Bluffton High School in 1932, and attended Bluffton College.
Lifelong Bluffton resident Richard Ray Cookson, 96 died at 3:30 a.m. Oct. 15, 2012, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. He was born Jan. 6, 1916, in Orange Township, Hancock County to Clarence and Mabel (Anderson) Cookson.
At the age of two his father died in the 1918 flu epidemic. His sister Carol was six months old. Eventually his mother sold the farm and purchased a home in Bluffton.
Edgar E. Huber, 87 died at 2:45 a.m. Oct. 15, 2012, at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton. He was born July 28, 1925, in Richland Township to Harry and Nellie (Klingler) Huber. On June 26, 1954 he married Anita Althaus and she survives.
Mr. Huber was a farmer. He had worked in building and grounds at Ohio Northern University. He was a member of Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora. He was a 1943 graduate of Bluffton High School.He was a Marine veteran of World War II.
Beatrice A. "Bee" Lansing, 92, died at 8:20 a.m. Oct. 10, 2012, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
She was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Newark to Lorenzo Dell and Lorah Alice Dunn Glover, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 21, 1940, she married Floyd Franklin Lansing, who died Dec. 24, 1992.
Mrs. Lansing retired in 1970 as a supervisor from Triplett Electric Corp. after 17 years. She was a member of Ada Full Gospel Church. She lived most of her life in Ada. She was a member of Hix'n Chix Square Dance Club, Maysville. She had been owner of Northland Mobile Home Court, Ada.
