John Veland Bucher

John Veland Bucher, 84, of Findlay and formerly of Pandora died Monday morning, March 28, 2011, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. He was born Jan. 7, 1927, near Columbus Grove on Bucher Road to Ezra E. and Elvina Hilty Bucher. On June 21, 1947, he married Thelma Pearl Bridenbaugh, his wife of 63 years and she survives.

Mr. Bucher graduated from Columbus Grove High School and farmed on Road 4 near Pandora for 50 years. He served as a Riley Township Trustee for 16 years. He served in the Marines during WWII and was a life member of Pandora American Legion Post 616.

Lamoile E. "Mollie" Amstutz, 94, of Bluffton died March 24, 2011, at her residence. She was born Aug. 6, 1916, in Defiance County to Donald and Violet Smith Salsbury. On September 10, 1939 she married Russell H. Amstutz and he preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1992.

Mrs. Amstutz was a homemaker and had worked at Triplett Corp. and Community Market both of Bluffton. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bluffton.

Shirley A. Spurck

Shirley A. Spurck, 73, formerly of rural Arlington died at 6:15 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.

She was born on Sept. 8, 1937, to the late William E. and Grace V. (Bash) Gibson in Wyandot County, Ohio. She married Nicholas Spurck on Aug. 27, 1960, and he survives.

Mrs. Spurck is also survived by a son, Jeffery L. Spurck of rural Forest; daughters: Lisa Ann (Marden) Herr of rural Bluffton, and Virginia Lynn
Gillespie of Carey; brother, Glenn W. Gibson of rural Forest; and four grandchildren.

Marilyn Rose Gratz Fett

Marilyn Rose Gratz Fett, 78, died at 2:39 p.m. March 15, 2011, at Lima Memorial Health System.

She was born Sept. 30, 1932, in Beaverdam to Virgil and Cleda Swankhouse Gratz, who preceded her in death. On May 6, 1951, she married Louis E. Fett, who survives.

Ellis Hauenstein

Ellis B. Hauenstein, 86, of Bluffton died 2:49 a.m. March 15, 2011 at Bluffton Hospital.

He was born July 7, 1924 in Bluffton to Levi and Lenna Huber Hauenstein. On Aug. 20, 1947 he married Betty J. Risser and she survives.

Mr. Hauenstein was a farmer and also retired from Ex-Cell-O Corp. He was a member of Bluffton Trinity United Methodist Church and the Ada VFW.

In World War II he was a driver for General George Patton.

Myda Jane Badertscher, 88, of rural Bluffton, died at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green.

She was born on Feb. 21, 1923, to the late Byron and Mary (Lehman) Manges in Orange Twp., Hancock County She married Wayne L. Badertscher on Nov. 22, 1951, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 2008.
