Lucile Sylvia Holcomb, 92, of Wadsworth, Ohio, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011. She was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Dalton, Ohio to Amos and Minnie (Santmeyer) Tschantz.

Mrs. Holcomb was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, retired from the West Unity school district, and the Wadsworth City School district.

Wauenta  Suter

Wauneta A. Suter, 81 of Pandora died Jan. 19, 2011, at her residence Pandora. Although in declining health over the past six months, she lived a life full of activities travel and creativity.

She was born on Aug. 11, 1929, in rural Medina County, Ohio to Jay and Eva Garra Root. On Nov. 27, 1952 she married Gene Suter who preceded her in death April 13, 1988.

Mrs. Suter was a member of Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora, where she taught Sunday School for the Living Faith Class. She also enjoyed teaching at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.

A Mount Union College bus carrying its college wrestling team home from a match at Ohio Northern University, Ada, resulted in the death of the Mount Union director of athletic training.

The accident occurred Tuesday evening at 11 p.m. on U.S. Route 30 near Bucyrus. Click here for details.

Dan Gorman, director of athletic training and associate professor of human performance and sport business, was fatally injured in the crash.

Bluffton native Paul Soldner, artist and innovator in the field of ceramic art, 89, died at his winter home in Claremont, California, on Jan. 3, 2011.

He was a member of the Bluffton University class of 1946 and was an art major.

Mary Avon Sommers

Mary Avon Sommers, 90, of Pandora died at 12:50 a.m. Dec. 26, 2010 at Bluffton Hospital. She was born Feb. 21, 1920 in Pleasant Township, Putnam County, to Alvin and Avon Geiger Lugibihl. On Dec. 15, 1939, she married Donavin Sommers and he preceded her in death on May 1, 1997.

Mrs. Sommers was a homemaker. She had worked at the Pandora-Gilboa school cafeteria, Welty-Schumacher Egg Co., Pandora, and the Imperial Discount Grocery, Bluffton.

She was a member of the Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton, and a graduate of Pandora High School.
