When Fran Reese approached Executive Director, Joy Reichenbach, earlier this year about naming Hilty Home, Pandora, as the recipient of memorial gifts in honor of her late husband, Reichenbach was pleased.

Fran’s husband, Richard Reese, had lived at Hilty Home since June, 2010, and died Jan. 25, 2013. Fran wondered if the memorial gifts could be used to purchase a ceiling lift. A ceiling lift would have been beneficial to Richard and allowed him to stay in the Special Needs Unit where he had become comfortable and familiar.

Jerrod Amstutz, Ohio Northern University student, mixes his university major and minor in a creative way.

As a religion major and theatre minor, the 2009 Bluffton High School grad this year is student coordinator of  “Ada Friends.” The program matches Ada kindergarteners through eighth graders with a college student mentor.

The mix for Amstutz includes working with the Ada Friends program through the ONU Religious Life staff and adding a little theatrics, just to make the job interesting.

Bluffton resident, Sarah Diller, is one of the Handel "Messiah" soloists this year. The performance is at 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8, in Founders Hall. We had a brief chat with her about the upcoming event. Here's part of our conversation.
