Here's a report of K9 activities since May 2018

Kato, the Bluffton police department’s K9, joined the department in May 2018. What’s the effect of the dog on law enforcement in the community?

According to Ryan Burkholder, police chief, “Our main goal in implementing a K9 program is to combat narcotics in and around Bluffton.”

Chief Burkholder added that criminal activity has decreased since the addition of Kato.

Jan. 4
Officers took a criminal trespass report from an East College Avenue resident.

Jan. 9
Officers received a civil complaint from a Findlay resident.

Jan. 12
Officers responded to a Snider Road business in reference to an assault.

Officers responded to a noninjury property damage only traffic crash on County Line Road at State Route 103.

Here's the December Bluffton police docket

Bluffton police released its December 2018 docket, which follows:

December 1
Officers responded to a North Lawn Avenue residence in reference to a domestic dispute.

December 2
Officers responded to a non-injury traffic crash at the intersection of Jackson Street and College Avenue. A Bluffton resident was issued a citation for failing to yield the right of way. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

FROM ADA ICON – After a week-end long investigation the Ada Police Department charged Dekari Tyre Ese Powell of Ada and Mansfield with two counts of Aggravated Robbery, felonies of the 1st degree, for his part in the armed robbery of three persons in Ada on Thursday, Jan 3, according to Michael Harnishfeger, Ada police chief.

According to reports, three separate individuals known to Powell were approached separately and robbed at gun point of cash, electronics and drugs. 

And, charges filed on theft goes to county prosecutor

Officers responded to a Garmatter Street residence in reference to a criminal damage comaplaint.

November 8
Officers responded to a State Route 103 business in reference to a suspicious person complaint.

Bluffton Police Department’s K9 Kato has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vest was embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of K9 Ty, California City Police Department”.
