Bluffton Police Department’s K9 Kato has received donation of body armor

Bluffton Police Department’s K9 Kato has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vest was embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of K9 Ty, California City Police Department”.

 Bluffton Police Department’s K9 Kato has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vest was embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of K9 Ty, California City Police Department.”

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501c(3) charity located in East Taunton, Mass., whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States.

September 4
Officers arrested Carla D. Major, 48, Lima, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the area of State Route 103 and Commerce Lane for a stop sign violation. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.

September 8
Officers responded to a noninjury hit/skip traffic crash in the area of Vine Street and North Main Street.

From Bluffton's August police department log

During August Bluffton police responded to four domestic violence reports, used its K-9 unit on four searches and made five illegal narcotic discoveries. And, in one report, a person faces nine charges in Lima Municipal Court.

August 1
A Columbus Grove resident reported someone stole his identity to open an account at a local store.

August 2
A Spring Street resident reported an unknown person(s) entered her unattended vehicle and stole her purse from inside.

Accident at Lincoln Highway and Bentley Road sends five to hospitals

Among those hospitalized is Teri Steinmetz, Bluffton first grade teacher

Bluffton residents Joel and Teri Steinmetz and two of their children received injuries from a two-vehicle accident Sunday, at the intersection of Lincoln Highway and Bentley Road, according to the Lima Post of the State Highway Patrol.

In addition, the driver of the second vehicle, Monica L. Nostrum, 44, of Bellaire, Michigan, received injuries.
