At the Monday, Octobrer 9 meeting of the Bluffton council, the village administration provided the attached 1-page summary of current infrastructure projects and planning for 2024.

  • Hydrant flushing is underway. If you see discolored water, run an outside tap until water runs clear. 
  • Aqua-Line leak detection found leaks on Luise Circle, Wilhelm Circle, Ethan Circle and Magnolia Lane.
  • Wednesday-Friday, Oct. 11-13, new asphalt surface, centerlines and edge lines will be installed on SR 103.

Reminder: Trick or Treat night is Thursday, Oct 27 from 6-7:30 p.m. Please turn on your porch light if you are participating. 

Harvest Festival to be hosted by Bluffton High School Volunteer Club on October 28

The council of the Village of Bluffton held a regular meeting (packet) on Monday, October 9 with the following actions taken:

The third reading of Ordinance No. 10-2023, vacating a portion of the Thurman St. and a portion of an abutting alley.

Street closings:

  • Bluffton University Homecomig entertainment (Glow Party) on Vine Street
    October 21, closed from 12 p.m.-12 a.m.
  • Harvest Festival childrens activities on College Ave.
    October 28, activities from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; road closed fro 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

A public hearing is scheduled for October 23, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. by the zoning appeals board to be held at the office of Richland Township at 8435 N. Dixie Hwy.

Contiguous property owners bordering 7100 N. Cool Rd. Columbus Grove, OH 45830 and interested general public are invited to attend.

The Monday, September 25 meeting of the Bluffton council was a little surreal for the public gallery, since much of it happened behind closed doors in an executive session that was not on the agenda. Fortunately, the discussion must have been productive because several consequential actions were taken immediately after.

The Bluffton Council will hold a regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 25. The 35-page packet is attached HERE.

LEGISLATION
Two ordinances are scheduled to be read:
- To vacate 15-foot sanitary easyment in Parkiew of Bluffton
- To vacate a protion of Thurman Street and a portion of an abutting alley

The packet includes
- A preliminary voucher report of September 25
- A Tree Commission report including Riley Creek Village tree removal and planting, and notes on recommended plantings for a proposed dog park near the Bluffton Arboretum.
- Minutes of the September 13 Personnel-Finance-Safety committee meeting. regarding retaining and recruiting employees including Police and Public Works.
- Minutes from the Sept. 20 Streets committee meeting including SR 103 update, sidewalk connectivity, maintenance and ADA compliance.
- An application for special event permit for the Blaze of Lights parade on Saturday, November 25.

The Bluffton School Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, September 18 in the Elementary School Media Center, 102 S. Jackson St.

  • Classified contract with Sharlene Anderson as an educational aide
  • 18 substitute teacher agreements
