The weather in northwest Ohio has finally warmed and motorcycles are out. It's time for a reminder to share the road and take some extra precautions.
Motorcycle riders are reminded to obey traffic laws, wear DOT-compliant helmets, and other protective gear; also, be visible by wearing bright colors or using reflective tape.
Drivers of cars, trucks, and buses are reminded to look out for and share the road with motorcyclists. Increasing cooperation among all road users will help to reduce crashes.
Beginning on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, it became illegal in most circumstances for anyone in Ohio to use or hold a cell phone or electronic device while driving.
A new educational campaign encourages Ohio drivers to "Lock Your Screen Before You Rock the Road." Additional materials relay the simple, but important message of "Phones Down. It's the Law." (PDF fact sheet HERE.)
Severe storms including tornadoes resulted in damage, injuries and 11 deaths in the South and Midwest on Friday March 31-Saturday April 1. AEP Ohio has issued the following reminders on safety precautions:
