Village leaf pickup begins October 24

At the October 10 council meeting, Assistant Village Administrator Bryan Lloyd announced that leaf pickup crews will begin work on October 24.

This will allow for cleanup in advance of  Trick or Treat night (October 27 from 6-7:30 p.m.)

Leaf pickup runs for 4-6 weeks. Residents should create long piles of leaves on the tree lawn with no sticks or other debris.

Allen County Board of elections in-person absentee early voting schedule

The Allen County Board of Elections has issued reminders that in-person absentee early voting for the November 8 general election has begun.

Early Voting Hours at 204 N. Main Street, Lima, Ohio have the following schedule:

Oct 12-28 Weekdays Only 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Oct 31-Nov 4 Weekdays Only, Monday-Friday Extended Hours, 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

Oct 29 Saturday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Nov 5 Saturday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Nov 6 Sunday, 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

Nov 7 Monday, 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Japanese tour and exchange opportunity for 9-11th graders

Lima Sister Cities is currently accepting applications for the 2023 Japanese Youth Tour and Exchange Program. To be eligible, students must be current 9-11th graders in Allen County, Ohio.

The trip is a 2-week educational tour across many cities and sites across Japan. The tour will include visiting schools, learning their history and meeting the mayor of Sister city Harima-cho.

Natural Gas Aggregation program for unincorporated areas on Nov. 8 ballot

The Board of Allen County Commissioners is asking voters in unincorporated areas of the county to approve a Natural Gas Aggregation program on the November 8 general election ballot. The program would offer the opportunity for residents and small  businesses in these unincorporated areas to save money on their utility costs. (See attached sample ballot for Richland Township.)

Ohio Law allows political subdivisions to form aggregated buying groups to purchase natural gas supply on behalf of their citizens.
